Two houses, both alike in dignity, in fair Verona, where we lay our scene. We watched William Shakespeare's Romeo + Juliet (1996) with our friend Espie Quintero and "A Plague on both your houses!" Aesthetically gifted Australian director Baz Luhrmann gifted unto the 1990's this perfect chocolate box of a movie for "The MTV generation." We were just learning about this wunderkind actor Leonardo DiCaprio when this movie exploded into theaters (and our loins) and the rest is history. Romeo and Juliet was standard reading in high school and 90's teens rejoiced when we found out it was getting "updated" with the dreamboat from "The Basketball Diaries" and Angela Chase herself - Claire Danes from "My So-Called Life!" Our little queer hearts (and our loins) burst. The cast absolutely crushes it, the soundtrack is killer and the costumes still make us swoon. This movie is nearly untouched by time and we are so stoked to be talking about it.
