“Winds in the east, mist coming in. Like somethin’ a brewin’ and ‘bout to begin.” We watched Mary Poppins (1964) with extra special guest Daniel Franzese and we’re ready to join an all chimney sweep dance crew. This movie is a classic, and we’re not here to dissect a classic - we’re here to sing songs, question parenting skills and thirst over Dick Van Dyke. Listen if we were raising a family in Edwardian London I’m sure I’d use all my resources to hire a governess/nanny to watch the kids so I could march with the suffragettes. Let’s be real, we’d probably be old crones selling seeds for tuppence a bag instead of wealthy bankers but either way we’d still write poems about wanting a beautiful nanny to make our beds. And if you’re wondering if we immediately watched the classic Simpsons episode that parodies this movie - yes. Yes we did. Come along children. You know the words.
